Yahoo‘s enhancement of its image search can be insightful and a great boon for us to develop search refinement.
The Yahoo! Image Search team built a new set of filters in order to optimize user experiences. It intends to improve the search results by narrowing down such ranges as color, size and dimensions etc. The new tool also allows users to choose if the sources of the images coming from Flickr.
TG tried the new function few days ago by searching “Yahoo” in the image search. Three rows of filters showed up on the page when start searching for “Yahoo”.

The search suggestion bar then displays corresponding images with selected filters. If users do not need any help from the filter, it can move up and stay hidden.

The new filter is said to be a start only, we probably will get more insight from its development down the road.

Kelikuru.com is 嘰哩咕嚕, a Chinese term basically means rumbling. The idea comes across TG's mind while watching a cartoon show on TV few years ago. We walk through our life, day by day ; speak to many people, known or unknown, year after year and we may not notice that there are so many wonderful things passing by. Writing a blog can literally leave my foot-prints in the internet world, help me keep the memory. At this moment, a big chunk of my life is closely aligned with user-centric design, user research, web-based environment both in Hong Kong and China. Perhaps I may not be like that tomorrow, I may be in other setting, have nothing to do with usability, but who knows what's going to happen next?
