While exploring more about organic search marketing - getting pages indexed, discovering who links to my blogs and operating a campaign to attract links, TG started to dig deeper in this field lately by checking out Who’s Link to me

The online marketing tool is still in beta although it was debuted in March, 2009.  So far, it’s offering free services to bloggers who are interested in understanding their linking structure and performance. The second level of the tool usage would be competitive analysis.

What “Who’s link to me” can do to improve my linking strategy?

TG open an acount and find the following reports:

  • Anchor text – the most popular terms associated with the blog and site
  • Anchor URL – the most popular pages in your site
  • TLD - top level domain names such as, digg.com, techcrunch.com that are being linked back to your site
  • Country - where the links coming from geographically
  • IP - what are the IP addresses that are being linked back to you
  • Domain- Domains such as, .edu, .gov, .cn etc.

To get hooked up with the link analysis tool,  a meta tag  or a html file is required to uploaded to your blog in order to verify your blog/site ownership. TG opts for the easy way: meta tag. All I have to do is to add a piece of code on header.php under theme editor. No fuss!!

Other choices for back link analysis:

  • Yahoo Site Explorer - TG is also using this tool to keep track of inbound links. The setup seems to be less visual and sophisticated than Who’s link to me. Statistical readings include Crawled pages, All Known pages, Known Hosts on this site, Hosts linking to site, Domains linking to site, Hosts outlined from the site and Domain Out linked from the site.
