Ever since the growth of Internet world, TG at Kelikuru.com starts learning new user experience design and usability from a handful of pioneers in this specific area. To name a couple, TG’s most respected masters are as follows:

The first one who inspires TG, helps TG understand user experience and usability is Steve Krug, the author of “Don’t let me think – A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability”. To TG, his book is like a children book which is extremely easy to understand and I have a lot of fun.

Two years later, TG found another great usability master – Don Norman, the author and co-author of fourteen books, including my favorite – Emotional Design: why we love (or hate) everythings. TG regards this book as my personal enlightenment to the usability world. Dr. Norman is very entertaining, he delivers his points by using story telling technique which TG enjoys most.

This book marks the transition from usability to aesthetics, but with the emphasis on a well-rounded, cohesive product that looks good, works well, and gives pride to the owner. “The well-rounded product,” says Norman, “will enhance the heart as well as the mind, being a joy to behold, to use, and to own.”  Excerpt from Adaptive Path

Emotional Design by Donald Norman

Having finished the Emotional Design book, TG would like to read The Design of Everyday Things, and his recently-release The Design of Future Things. It’s a matter of when and how!!

TG also learnt a lot from Norman’s partner – Jakob Nielsen, who apts to be more practical and pragmatic in dealing with user experience optimization and related issues.
