In certain way, Kelikuru.com is TG’s laboratory to explore new or semi-new tools before I used it for other real projects. During the Xmas holidays weekend, TG has tried out Google’s Custom Search Engine customization on my homepage.
After setting up Google’s Custom Search Engine, users can notice that a new search bar is placed at the top of Kelikuru.com HOME PAGE. Should you input “Usability Hong Kong“, it will display the most updated and relevant posts TG has written based on Google search algorithm.
According to TG’s experience, the new Google’s Custom Search Engine serves two major purposes:
1. Display more posts at one time: Compared with WordPress blog search which shows 5 posts in one page, Google’s Custom Search Engine can display up to 10 relevant posts. The way it displays looks clearer and cleaner than WordPress template.
2. Display Adsense ads: Along with my posts, it also shows Google Adsense ads. It enables TG to have a chance to earn Adsense money if I have it set up.
TG would like to know your feedback if the new Google’s Custom Search Engine can enhance my site usability. Please don’t feel hesitated to tell me what you think. Do you like it?

Kelikuru.com is 嘰哩咕嚕, a Chinese term basically means rumbling. The idea comes across TG's mind while watching a cartoon show on TV few years ago. We walk through our life, day by day ; speak to many people, known or unknown, year after year and we may not notice that there are so many wonderful things passing by. Writing a blog can literally leave my foot-prints in the internet world, help me keep the memory. At this moment, a big chunk of my life is closely aligned with user-centric design, user research, web-based environment both in Hong Kong and China. Perhaps I may not be like that tomorrow, I may be in other setting, have nothing to do with usability, but who knows what's going to happen next?
