Tailor-made Google’s Custom Search Engine
27Dec2009 Filed under: Search Author: TGIn certain way, Kelikuru.com is TG’s laboratory to explore new or semi-new tools before I used it for other real projects. During the Xmas holidays weekend, TG has tried out Google’s Custom Search Engine customization on my homepage.

After setting up Google’s Custom Search Engine, users can notice that a new search bar is placed at the top of Kelikuru.com HOME PAGE. Should you input “Usability Hong Kong“, it will display the most updated and relevant posts TG has written based on Google search algorithm.
According to TG’s experience, the new Google’s Custom Search Engine serves two major purposes:
1. Display more posts at one time: Compared with Wordpress blog search which shows 5 posts in one page, Google’s Custom Search Engine can display up to 10 relevant posts. The way it displays looks clearer and cleaner than Wordpress template.
2. Display Adsense ads: Along with my posts, it also shows Google Adsense ads. It enables TG to have a chance to earn Adsense money if I have it set up.
