Last time TG and my mentor discussed Good practice for site navigation from Google SEO starter guide  with reference to Google’s SEO Starter Guide. This time, we can talk about it in “page level” details

  • From users’ point of view, each page title is required to be lucid and clear. It can enable users to understand what the page about by making a distinct, single page title tag for each page.
  • Meta description tags are recommended to vary from page to page to help both users understand the page and enable Google to index the page. Google may display the tags as snippets for these pages.
  • Constructing a user-friendly URL with relevant words would provide users and search engines with more information about the page than an ID or unrecognizable parameters. For example, a URL with folders/222/g90.html is less appealing to usability/navigation/Google’s best practices.html. Webmaster Help Center page on creating Google-friendly URLs has more information.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) works best with the inherited interest of your target users.

Even though this (Google’s SEO Starter Guide) guide’s title contains the words “search engine”, we’d like to say that you should base your optimization decisions first and foremost on what’s best for the visitors of your site. They’re the main consumers of your content and ar using search engines to find your work.
