From now on, TG would like to invite my friends, known or unknown, to be getting merrier by taking part in the newly-installed Google Friend Connect. TG has to admit that I am not a big fan of social media, however, my curiostiy drives me to take one more step further, opening up a window for the open social application offered by Google, which started it in May 2008.

Social media networking is a land with full of promises and there are many on-going discussions about the China social networking sites. As a late comer, TG would stay on the sideline and check if there’s any opportunities arise.

The free program does not require any web programming knowledge and is easy to use by no-voice users. It helps in certain aspects:

  • Increase communication between web site/blog owners and their friends, also within the peer group
  • Strengthen the community that visits the site/blog by getting more gadgets
  • Should you enable recommendations, comments, opinions, answer and questions functions in the API, the interaction will be more dynamic and powerful — TG would like to keep it simple for the time being though
  • E-commerce operator will be beneficial by allowing other users to see whether other usrs purchased or reviewed a product they are also interested in

The Google video below will give you more details about the setup. While pasting the code into your CSS, TG recommends to place it above the top of the page so that it won’t fall below the fold.
