It seems Taobao’s decision to block Baidu (百度) searching and indexing its contents  is not execessively rush. Baidu (百度) eventually released a tool for Baidu C2C’s users, which help its customers to export all items data from their shops on other C2C platform, of course, mainly from Taobao, and upload to Baidu’s platform.

According to Sina.com, the data migration only take several minutes. It significantly reduces the cost for a big seller to try Baidu’s platform. The sellers have built their sales records and credit points on Taobao for years, maybe Baidu (百度) will also acknowledge sellers’ credit points on Taobao, eBay Eachnet has tried to do similar things in early this year.

Taobao definitely feels the heat and its holding company, Alibaba Group, has immediately announced a RMB 5 billion investment plan over the next five years last week. It also decided to keep its services free to its users.

It’s difficult for us to see through China Internet development as it evolves far more speedy than the social and economic changes in the mainland. TG would like to see someone or some institutions, which are more objective and accurate in conducting research studies, can bring us closer to the dynamic life of the fledgling business environment.

China Internet research

Nielsen Online, a service of The Nielsen Company, has just forged a bond with Beijing Zhongqian Wangrun Information Technology Co., Ltd. (北京华瑞网标信息技术有限公司), and the newly-formed company, CR-Nielsen, announced that they planned to release data for the market publicly.

Beijing Zhongqian Wangrun Information Technology Co., Ltd. is the operator of ChinaRank, in cooperation with the ISC(Internet Society of China). ChinaRank is the only Internet firm authorized to create and publish Web site rankings in China. The joint venture will develop and deliver robust Internet measurement and analysis services in China, the fastest growing internet market with more than 250 million Internet users.

Currently, there are a few research companies are tracking Internet use in China, but they rarely release their information publicly such as, comScore, IRsearch.

Dare you to tell us what your last last last job will be?

Alibaba chief executive officer David Wei told the press media that Alibaba.com would be his last job after attending APEC in early August. The remark dismissed a rumor that Mr Wei had planned to start his own business outside Alibaba group.

Mr Wei said despite the fact that he was not one of the 18 pioneers who set up the China-based Internet company, he still regarded himself as the group’s founder.

He said that he has joined Alibaba.com seven years ago and took the B2B company to IPO in Hong Kong by the end of 2007.

TG does not even has a very clear mind to tell what’s going to happen tomorrow, not to mention making such a bold statement in front of mass media.

Obviously, TG does not have the talent and wisdom to become a CEO!

Usability seems no longer a stranger to most major Chinese websites and their corresponding managment teams. From time to time, TG found heated debate and comments on user experiences design, usability issues in China-based blogs. Management expects UI optimization, user-friendly applications can improve site traffic, conversion rate and ulitmately see it as a part of branding. Good news to those who work in this field!!

China Internet Week put off a study lately and sort out a list of Chinese websites which has a resounding UI with proven user-centric design. Yet, we don’t have any clue of how the publisher measures these websites. They can be used as reference though.
